Description

During the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, the National Hurricane Center will name tropical storms as they form according to a predetermined alphabetical list. This market identifies which of those pre-assigned names will belong to the first storm system to reach hurricane strength (sustained winds of 74 mph or greater) in the Atlantic basin.

Kalshi

The market resolves based on which pre-assigned name corresponds to the first storm officially categorized as a hurricane in the Atlantic between May 15, 2026 and December 1, 2026. The relevant outcome receives a Yes resolution if that named storm achieves hurricane status first during the specified window. If no storm reaches hurricane classification during this period, all outcomes resolve to No. Resolution is determined by the official National Hurricane Center designation and timing of when a storm first meets the hurricane threshold.
