The Clay Mathematics Institute offers substantial prizes for solving any of the seven Millennium Prize Problems, some of the most challenging unsolved questions in mathematics. These markets track whether any of these problems will be officially solved and awarded a prize by specific future dates. The outcome depends solely on the Institute's formal announcement of a complete, verified solution.
These markets resolve to Yes if the Clay Mathematics Institute officially announces the award of a Millennium Prize for any unsolved Millennium Prize Problem before the specified deadline date (ranging from January 1, 2027 to January 1, 2035). The announcement must certify a complete solution that matches the original problem statement — a positive proof is required unless the market explicitly allows counterexamples or disproofs. Merely submitting a solution, publishing peer-reviewed work without CMI verification, or achieving a partial solution does not trigger resolution. Even if the solver declines the monetary award, the market resolves to Yes upon the Institute's official declaration of the prize. Notably, the Poincaré Conjecture has already been solved and thus cannot trigger any of these markets.
